This trip takes a tour of some of the most spectacular Monasteries and Temples in Bulgaria that are unmatched in the rest of Europe.. The cult of the Orthodox Christian religion endowed them with a unique aesthetic, with huge and colorful wall paintings on its walls, architecture mix of medieval, Roman and Byzantine, golden icons, etc. They are usually found in mountainous areas of great beauty and evergreen greenery.. His visit takes us to relive other times and a way of life very different from that of modern Western Europe.… You can also visit the 2 most important cities in Bulgaria: Sofia and Plovdiv.
Itinerary:

Day 1 – Arrival in Sofia. Accommodation in hotel in Sofia, visit to the city center and dinner in a typical food restaurant to have the first approach to the rich Bulgarian gastronomy.
Day 2 – Visit to Rila monastery, the oldest of Bulgaria, country symbol. It has surprising aesthetics and dimensions and houses a medieval tower of the year 1343 well preserved. To know more click here. Translated to Plovdiv, and spend the night in Plovdiv.
Day 3 – Plovdiv city walking tour, european capital of culture 2019 and that has an old neighborhood of old Renaissance houses of great beauty and unique architecture and color. Short transfer (27 km) until the Bachkovo monastery, the second largest in Bulgaria, and optionally, to the fortress of Assen with its beautiful views from the top of a hill. Accommodation in Plovdiv.
Day 4 – Transfer to the Monastery of Chirpan "San Atanasio" to 1 time of Plovdiv. The monastery “San Atanasio” is located near the town Zlatna Livada in the Chirpan region. This is believed to be the oldest monastery in Europe and was personally founded by Saint Athanasius, the Archbishop of Alexandria in 344. In its long, but very long story, "Saint Athanasius” was built and destroyed multiple times. More info about this Monastery here.
Transfer to the North of the country, crossing the Central Balkan mountain range, stopping at the Shipka Church-Monastery and the Sokolski Monastery. Overnight in the town of Bozhentsi which is an architectural reserve for its town houses, preserved from the 19th century. Optional: entrance to the ethnographic complex of artisans of “Etara”.
Day 5 – Trasfer of 1 h 45 min to the Troyan Monastery, in the middle of a lush forest, its beautiful wooden porches take us back to antiquity. There is the option to visit the beautiful city of Lovech if the day goes fast. Finally transfer of 1 h 30 minutes to the town of Etropole.
Day 6 – Visit to the Etropole Monastery. Transfer to Sofia.
Day 7 – Visit to the capital, Sofia, if the flight schedule allows it. In the city of Sofia you can visit La Rotonda de San Jorge (century IV ), National Archaeological Museum, the National Theater, the Russian church of Saint Nicolas, The Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral The Church of Saint Sophia, or take advantage of shopping in its main shopping street… Transfer to the airport and departure to Spain.
