We present you a trip by MTB or mountain bike that will allow you to know the most emblematic mountain ranges of Bulgaria: Vitosha, Rila, Pirin and the Rhodopes. In particular, the Rhodope Mountains are one of the best areas in Europe to explore unspoiled nature by bike.. They are located in the Southeast of Bulgaria and offer ideal conditions for cross country MTB. The route we have planned has been designed so that we can enjoy the best possible adventure cycling experience., brings together moderate ups and downs, wide trails, spectacular scenery, authentic villages, historical places, Panoramic views, rural hotels that will allow us to know the customs and the rich traditional Bulgarian cuisine… and above all enjoy mountain biking very much.

Day 1: Pick up from Sofia airport and transfer to hotel. Free time to prepare and adapt the bikes and ride around the capital of Bulgaria. In spring and summer it is very pleasant to walk through the city illuminated at night and by day through its wide and thickly wooded parks, especially around the Parliament area, Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the russian church, etc. In the evening there will be a brief presentation of the program and the guides.

Day 2: In the morning we left with our luggage and bikes ready. Trasfer of 40 minutes by road to the south face of the Vitosha massif. Once there, we lowered the bikes from our vehicle and began to warm up our muscles.. Going up we reach the crest of the second massif of the day, Verila's.
On the main ridge of the massif we will see wonderful landscapes, pine forests and meadows from which you can see the mountains of Rila National Park. After lunch we have a short and strong climb. Followed by a nice and smooth descent of 13 km to reach the town of Govedartsi where we will spend the night.

Day 3: We started by bike on asphalt to reach the second most important ski resort in the country: Borovets, that holds a great adventure for us, because outside the ski season, some of its tracks and many trails that cross its lush forests are used for mountain biking, just like skiing, here there are trails from level beginner to advanced. Using the chairlift we can go up together with the bikes and make descents or downhills spectacular.
At the end of the day we stay in a Hotel in the Borovets station where there is a great atmosphere around MTB fans from the various countries that visit it..

Day 4: This day will be full of challenges as we are going to ride the bikes the highest and most adventurous path, called "Kaiser" that reaches about 2.500 m above sea level.
We go up through a forest to the refuge of "Chacar voivoda". We continue along a path that goes up and down, it has wooden bridges and large stones that will put the suspensions of our bikes to the test, to get to the refuge of "Zavratchitsa", where we will have lunch. Then the last kilometers of the climb to the highest point of the itinerary await us from where you can enjoy wonderful views. Follow the most technical part of the descent between the rocky peaks that surround us. After 7,5 km we arrive at another refuge from which we have another descent along a good mountain path. This road becomes a paved road that after 15 km of descent will take us to our hotel near the town of Yacoruda. There a pool of hot springs awaits us, what will be the best ending to this epic mountain biking day.

Day 5: We start the day with a smooth descent and asphalt climb that ends with 5 Strong km of climb to reach the village of Konarsko which is located in the Rhodopes massif. From there we have some 7 km of climb up a sandy path to reach the highest point of the day: the peak of Velitsa. The following 15 km we passed through the main ridge of the mountain with up and down trails and unforgettable Rila Mountains, Pirin y Rodope. Passing through the town of “Medeni Poliani” we continue with 8 km by asphalt to reach the town of “Pebble beat” where we will have lunch. Then we have 15 km of gentle descent by road to reach the town of Sarnitsa. After a short rest we continue along a path following the edge of the Dospat swamp, it is about 16km with views of this huge and beautiful lake. In the end we have 4 km of asphalt road to reach the town of Dospat.

Day 6: We take the paved road to climb 8 km to a point with a panoramic view towards the Dospat reservoir. Then we come to a very beautiful track that follows the river and goes down 10 km to reach a Roman bridge. We continued crossing potato fields and after 18 km we reach the town of Buynovo and the border with Greece. We will have lunch in the center of town. We continue to penetrate the heart of the Rhodopes and approach Greece with a gentle rise of 5,5 km and then others 2 km of steep climb to reach the point from where an unforgettable descent of 14 km towards the typical village of Trigrad , where we accommodate in private homes, which will allow us to know the authentic rural life of this old Europe and meet its people.

Day 7: After breakfast we got on the bikes and went down to the famous cave "Diavolsko Garlo" (The devils throat), then we get back on the bikes to start the long but gentle climb of 13 km towards 7 glacial lakes "Chairski". From there another impressive view of the Rhodopes is discovered and we continue downhill from 9 km to Mugla village. Lunch in the village. We follow others 9 km of climb to reach the highest ridge of the Rhodopes massif. There we have some 6 km of route through the highest part of the mountain ridge. The 10 km of descent towards the town of “Shiroka Laka” They will be a perfect end to this unforgettable trip because this town has the traditional Bulgarian architecture of wooden and stone houses that will transport us to the past. We mount the bikes in the vehicle and drive back to Sofia.

Day 8: Early airport transfer or free time in Sofia, depending on the flight departure time.
