Guided tour of 8 days with hiking route through the Caucasus, Svaneti region (Georgia). The Georgia hiking trail in the travel program detailed below runs through part of the Svaneti region between the villages of Mestia and Ushguli (UNESCO World Heritage). Day 1. Spain / Kutaisi.

Departure from Barcelona on a regular Wizz Air flight at 19:55. Arrival at Kutaisi airport at 02:45 (local time). Meeting with the company representative and transfer to the hotel in Kutaisi for the night. (-/-/-).

Day 2.. Tskaltubo – Prometheus Caves – Zugdidi – Mestia (270 km)

Half pension. In the morning we will visit caves of Prometheus – one of the richest dimensions with stalactites, stalagmites, petrified waterfalls, pearls from underground caves ending in a large lake. The cave consists of 6 big rooms, full of spectacular formations.

After the visit we will go north, towards Svaneti, the inaccessible mountainous region in the Greater Caucasus. Free time for lunch in Zugdidi town, center of the Samegrelo region. Then we will travel through the varied mountain landscape of the Greater Caucasus and have a short stop to enjoy the panoramic views from the Enguri dam., currently the second tallest arch dam in the world with a height of 271,5 meters. In the afternoon we will arrive at Mestia. Dinner and accommodation in a guesthouse in Mestia. (D/-/C)

Day 3. Mestia – Lakhiri – Mulakhi – Adishi

Full board. After breakfast we will walk to Mulakhi, we will have a walk in meadows with flowers, along the rhododendrons, we will enjoy the views of the Tetnuldi mountain (4800m), Banguriani Mountain and the famous Mount Ushba (4700m). Throughout the walk we will visit the Lakhiri village. On the way we will have a picnic. From Mulakhi village by car 4×4 we will leave for Adishi. Dinner and accommodation in a gueshouse in Adishi. Day 4. Adishi – Iprali

Full board. We will leave the Adishi village and start walking through the long alpine valley with its characteristic landscape of green meadows where the herds graze.. We will reach a point where we have to cross the river and we will need help with horses to cross it. We will go up to the Chkhutnieri pass, at an altitude of 2722 meters, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view over the entire peaks between Tetnudi and Shkhara. We will begin the descent to the village of Khalde. Finally we will arrive at Iprali. Dinner and accommodation in a guesthouse in Iprali. (D/P/C)

Day 5. Iprali – Ushguli

Full board. After breakfast we will walk following the road for about two kilometers. Leaving the road we will follow a path that goes up towards Ushguli. We will arrive at Ushguli (2200m), which is the highest inhabited town in Europe, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The town is most famous for the abundance of watchtowers and from here you can see the highest mountain in Georgia – Monte Shkhara (5068m). On the way we will have a picnic. In Ushguli we will visit the Church of Lamaria (sig. XII). Dinner and accommodation in guesthouse in Ushguli. (D/P/C)

Day 6. Ushguli (UNESCO) – Shkhara Glacier – Mestia

After breakfast, we will walk through the beautiful and wide valley of the Enguri river. We will arrive at the foot of the Shkhara mountain (5068m) – the highest mountain in Georgia. On the way we will have a picnic. At the end of the walk we will return to Mestia by private vehicle. Dinner and accommodation in a gueshouse in Mestia (D/P/C)

Day 7. Mestia – Martvili – Kutaisi (280 km)

After breakfast we will leave the Svaneti mountains and head towards the Samegrelo region. The first stop will be in Martvili. Flowing for millions of years, a throat of up to 40 meters deep and a length of 2.400 meters where a boatman with the boat will take us on an unforgettable journey between high rocks of Canyon. In the afternoon we will arrive in Kutaisi. Dinner and accommodation in guesthouse in Kutaisi. (D/-/C)

Day 8. Kutaisi – Ice creams – Departure

After breakfast we will visit the medieval Gelati monastery and its Academy (sig. XII). This place was an important cultural and political center of Georgia. The founder of the complex is King Davit Aghmashenebeli (the builder), the most prominent king in the history of Georgia. We will walk in the center of Kutaisi and visit the local market. Airport transfer. Departure on a regular flight back to Spain. (D/-/-)

• To travel to Georgia it is not necessary to apply for a visa if you have Spanish nationality or any other country of the European Union. This is valid for trips with a stay in Georgia of up to one year. In the case of foreigners of nationalities that do not belong to the European Union who legally reside in Spain, or those foreigners with a valid Spanish visa, They can also visit Georgia without the need for a visa issued by the Georgian authorities. Although the latter is valid for stays of up to 90 days.

• In churches, access with skirts or shorts is not allowed.
• Women are required to wear a scarf to cover their hair on their heads when visiting Orthodox Christian churches..

ARMENIA Extension. Kutaisi – Tbilisi.

Day 1. Kutaisi – Ice cream - Tbilisi (250 km)

After Gelati's visit with the group. Departure for Tbilisi. Train Kutaisi - Tbilisi departure at 15:35. Arrival in Tbilisi at 20:35. Transfer to the hotel. Hotel accommodation in Tbilisi. (D/-/-).

Day 2. Tbilisi – City tour

After breakfast we will have unforgettable hours of familiarization with the capital that is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious city built in the 5th century along the winding valley of the Mtkvari river.. Here are close to each other Orthodox churches, gregorian, roman catholic, synagogue and mosque. We will start the excursion from the medieval Metekhi church (sig.XIII); We will walk through the center discovering the streets with the characteristic wooden balconies that give the city personality; We will visit, Sioni cathedral (sig.XIII), Anchiskhati basilica(sig.VI); We will go up to the Narikala fortress(sig.IV) dominating the skyline of the old town; We will continue exploring the neighborhood of the sulfur baths in the oriental style. By last, the circuit will take us to the main avenue of Rustaveli where we will see the Parliament and the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater, that will provide you with a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Day 3. Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Tbilisi (190 km)

After breakfast departure to Mtskheta, the former capital of the Kingdom of Georgia. UNESCO heritage city museum, which is located at the intersection of the military road and the Silk Road. Visit of the Jvari monastery(cruz) 6th century built at the point where Santa Nino had erected a wooden cross to celebrate Iberia's conversion to Christianity. The Jvari church had a great impact on the development of Georgian architecture and served as a model for many other churches. We will continue with the visit of the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral which is the most sacred cathedral in Georgia where it is said that the tunic of Christ was buried. Svetitskhoveli is one of the cultural monuments, Georgia's most important artistic and architectural, For centuries it has been the coronation site of Georgian kings and patriarchs, of royal weddings and baptisms. Free time for lunch. Then we will go to Gori, which is the main city of the Shida Kartli region founded by one of the greatest kings of the country, David the Builder in the 12th century. It is Stalin's hometown. We will have a brief stop to see the Stalin museum outside.. We will continue our journey to Uplistsikhe – the ancient cave city that was built on a rocky bank of the Mtkvari river. Beginning its history in the 2nd millennium BC, Uplistsikhe has been identified as one of the oldest urban settlements in Georgia. Between the 6th century BC and the 11th century AD, Uplistsije was one of the political centers, most important religious and cultural aspects of the Kartli kingdom, where we will discover several structures from that time: a theater, a pharmacy and several palaces.
