Devin river in the spring

Trekking / trekking through Europe with Europe has large mountain ranges where you can make hiking, or trekking English, enjoying nature and landscapes. Typical destinations for this have traditionally been the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa in Spain, Dolomites in Italy, Alps in Switzerland,… But its proximity to major cities in Europe have made these areas come to be overexploited for tourism, suffering jams to access, high prices, overcrowding and often becoming a bad experience what should be a perfect holiday.

Common among hikers are able to enjoy the open spaces without queues or suffer agglomerations. And incredibly there are times of the year in which these mountains are so populated with tourists that it is impossible to achieve this task. Anyone want to take a picture in front of a nice waterfall? Well, wait your turn because there are other 4 tourists before you. How did we get to the beginning of the route? Road but the hotel concierge recommended we leave very early to find no parking complete the route from the start. Can we stay in a rural house near mountain? Ya no, they should reserve it 6 months before. They are all cases that many have suffered in these countries that are supposed hiking paradise in Europe.

As a counterpoint to this situation Bulgaria's national parks offer an unexplored nature thanks to the few visitors to the country compared to the destinations mentioned above. On natural resources that the country offers no startling figures as the 35% the country is occupied by forests (UN data 2010) and that there are many glacial lakes and mountains up in their nations parks 2.925 meters high (National Park Rila and Pirin). You can go hiking in these national parks both beginner and advanced levels, for the more adventurous even to the Alpine peaks without method, only with a harness and clothing can be made by various summits routes thanks to steel cables that guide the path and serve as anchors.

But you need not be an athlete to enjoy the greenery of Bulgaria, for example in the Central Balkan National Park and in the Rhodope Mountains there are marked trails and paths through the interior of lush forests where the slopes to overcome are available to trekkers and trekking of any age and physical condition. An example is the path that runs parallel to the river Devin and you can see one of its parts in the picture of this article.

Another advantage of Bulgaria for hiking and trekking through Europe is that the paths that cross these mountains are close to major attractions like traditional villages, Orthodox monasteries of striking architecture, waterfalls, caves and other natural phenomena that combine hiking with other active tourism activities without leaving the area where you are making in trekking, making walking even more rewarding for visitors.

Alternatively recently they are booming Nordic for hiking but for Spanish remoteness, the bad combination of flights to get to nearby mountains and long distances between the airport and the beginning of the routes make them unattractive. This, together with the high prices of flights, services and accommodations that exist in the countries of northern Europe, unlike Bulgaria where the value is much more favorable.

I recommend you to expand information on the other pages of this site if you're a fan of hiking Europe.
