A trip with an impressive check list 263 species within 8 days, thanks to the variety of ecosystems found in Bulgaria and with the help of our local guides ornithologists. Therefore travel to Bulgaria is the best choice to see rare and this paradise is just 3,5 hour flight from Spain.
There will only be 2 long journeys by road while traveling and hiking are easy to moderate walks. We will have enough time in nature to find our target and we will spend most of the day doing that that is what we like, search and birdwatching. However besides birds, since it will be Summer, we see good specimens of butterflies and even the common Jackal (Canis aureus) .
On birds that can be seen, below we have only mentioned some of the species that can not be seen in Spain. To name a few: Eastern imperial eagle (Aquila heliaca), Black hawk (Accipiter brevipes), Ratoneros fun (Buteo rufinus); Shrike nubica (Lanius nubicus), Sitta Neumayer, Chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar), Escribano cabezinegro (Emberiza melanocephala), Bearish Pelicans and White, Pygmy Cormorant (Microcarbo pygmeus), Flycatcher semicollarino (Ficedula semitorquata), Papamoscas papirojo (Small eater), Pious Collalba (Oenanthe pleschanka), Carbonero dreary (Poecile lugubris) and Collaba isabel (Oenanthe isabellina) and many other.
Day 1 - Pick up at Sofia Airport and transfer by road to the mountain in the Eastern Rhodopes, where for 2 nights we stay in the small town of Krumovgrad. The transfer takes about road 4,5 hours but can make several stops along the way for birdwatching. Accommodation at Krumovgrad .
Day 2 - Spend the day in a valley near Krumovgrad 15 minutes away. This valley has a quiet and bucolic landscape rich in birds and other nature. Here we look for the black Gavilan, Shrike nubica, Pale Zarcero, Great Zarcero, Eastern Warbler, Sitta Neumayer, Chukar partridge, Alcaudón chico, Escribano cabecinegro and many others.
Day 3 - We continue by road to the east and in a few hours we reached the mountain Sakar. There will seek the imperial eagle, Aguila pomerana, Ratoneros fun, Syrian Pico, Orphean Warbler, Zarcero icterino, again the largest nubica Zarcero and the Shrike and chukar partridge. Accommodation in Topolovgrad.
Days 4 Y 5 - Spend the morning doing sighting in this area looking for species that might not be the day before, then transfer to the coast of Black Sea (some 2 hours) to reach Burgas Wetlands, that are 4 másotros great many smaller lakes. They seek the Dalmatian Pelican and white Pelican, Pygmy Cormorant, Canelo jar and Lesser Spotted Eagle. Day 6 - Today we visited the nearby Cape Emine, an hour north. Here we look pious Collalba, Carbonero gloomy and possibly carmine Bullfinch. Many of the species mentioned yesterday are also found in this area and spend some time to mak sightings in Black Sea from the coast. In the afternoon we drive to the hinterland, making stops along the way to spot any kind and eventually spending the night in the town of Gabarevo.
Day 7 - We look for the gray-headed woodpecker nearby hotel, Collalba isabel, Hawk warbler and marsh warbler and many other species. In the afternoon we will look for the elusive partridge, For which we give a moderate hike of about 3km along a path. Other species are the Buzzard Moor and hopefully we will be able to see the Pico dorsiblanco, spp. liffordi. When we are ready, an hour's drive takes us to the village of Mirkovo, spend the night. Dinner and early withdrawal because we get up very early the next day.
Day 8 - Transfer of an hour to the airport for departure.
Note: This is a birding trip in which if desired photograph should carry at least lenses 300 mm and a stable tripod, the bean bags can be borrowed upon request in advance.
